30th Street Studios
The famous 30th street recording studio was operated by Columbia Records from 1949 to 1981 in a converted church located at 207 East 30th Street in New York City. It was considered by many to be the greatest recording studio during it's time. It was the sight where legendary recording sessions took place, from Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, to Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story. Don Hunstein documented these and other ground breaking sessions as staff photographer for Columbia Records.
